You obviously read it wrong or didn’t read my comment at all. The press conference clearly stated that the federal stockpile is meant to be mobile and distributed based on where federal agencies feel its needed. This really isn’t an argument of federal vs people, it’s more about an argument with NY state vs federal.

I guess it is meant to be used by federal agencies where they "feel it's needed" for better chance of re-election, yes? Case in point, Florida [0]. NY is getting hit really hard right now. What's the prioritization here?

Is there an argument that either NY should have had 40k ventilators on hand, or that they aren't in urgent need? This seems like literally the #1 option for deploying these right now to NY state. Your argument sounds like "states should prepare, but when they are unable to because of the scale, and have an urgent need, that is the only time when the federal stockpile should be utilized". Given that NY can't procure more because every state and the feds are bidding against them... isn't that why the federal stockpile exists?

I'm not sure where it can possibly be more needed than in NYC at this point. Or do blue states not count?

It's so interesting that people turn this into a political battle just for the sake of turning it into a political battle. From what I read and understand, the stockpile has less than 10k ventilators at the beginning. Food for thought: anyone trying to make stupid red vs blue state comments, Obbama was in administration during the last outbreak in 2007. The federal stock pile WAS NOT upgraded or expanded. The last expansion was in 2001 due to 9/11.
