Now we can have the seamless .NET experience for other languages too! .NET core, 4.x what is desktop only etc etc. It will be of course extra simple when combined with pyenv, virtualenv and node. Seriously though, I can see one possible benefit - whatever Microsoft pushes as a version of the runtime, may be what developers expect and use. Or maybe not, since you can depend on a "host" app you yourself publish (right?) which is your preferred Python version or whatever.
