I would generally agree with the fact that most off-road cars themselves are not referred to as a "Jeep". But in my experience it has been quite common for people to refer to off-roading as "Jeeping", even if they do not have a Jeep. Also, I have now read and typed the word Jeep so many times it seems like a really strange word...
