Large amounts of money offer much more tangible freedom than a moral victory, and can lead to many more moral victories down the line. Alternatively, people just like money. I'd much rather take whatever large amount of cash to basically ensure my needs and those of my future offsprings are taken care of for a very long time, if not for life.
