I think a lot of charisma really boils down to enthusiasm and positivity; hence why sometimes the most charismatic people can also be fairly awkward and sometimes even kind of stupid in a lot of senses. I think it boils down to most people wanting to believe their efforts are at least towards something, and a person that can give them the feeling that that's true is going to be well liked.
