Fair point, but by the time the federal government recommended it, many flights were already being cancelled, especially through hubs such as Singapore and Hong Kong. It was not easy to organise flights. My flight to Melbourne via Singapore was eventually cancelled, and I'm still waiting for SQ to get back to me what they're planning to do with my ticket.
