I do most of my programming in open space (lobby of my dorm), which I use defacto; my roommate is an incredibly light sleeper, and I like to program late into the night (I'm currently in the process of getting another roommate). It also helps that we have large whiteboards in every lobby. The people who come back at 2-3 AM see that I've written a lot of code on the whiteboards.
