You must not forget that is the news aggregator for ycombinator. Thus it's rather biased at times.
That said, I disagree with other commenters who describe HN as people discussing about things they know nothing about. Some people may lean out of the window too far, what I find interesting though is the amount of expertise assembled here. No matter how exotic a topic is, somebody will show up who has first hand experience and actually is an expert.
- Silhouette 7y agoNo matter how exotic a topic is, somebody will show up who has first hand experience and actually is an expert. And one of the nice things about HN is that usually when that happens, others do acknowledge the expert status and those contributions get moderated up to higher visibility fairly quickly. Interesting discussions often result, sometimes on quite surprising topics that might not be among the usual "core topics" for this forum yet still interest a lot of the same people.
