I ran into that with a backup product showing the current file being backed up. I wound up just posting the current file to a buffer that was protected by a mut

I ran into that with a backup product showing the current file being backed up. I wound up just posting the current file to a buffer that was protected by a mutex and whatever file name happened to be in the buffer at render time was what was drawn.
