Flattening the curve to a fair degree was very likely worth doing. But it could happen that like the common cold, this will ultimately pass through the entire population, and there simply might not be much we can do about it. My guess is that we're still in the first act of this play. It might take a decade or more to gain real insight. Right now we have to guess.
