Is it SARS-CoV-2 or is it 2019-nCoV? Seems to depend on the context.
- detaro 7y agoApparently, 2019-nCoV was the earlier label, until they decided to classify it more precisely as a SARS-type: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41564-020-0695-z https://www.nature.com/articles/s41564-020-0695-z
- tingletech 7y agoI think 2019-nCoV is an older synonym, and now that the lineage has been established SARS-CoV-2 is preferred (and and -1 got added to the older one that used to just be SARS-CoV)
- rococode 7y ago2019-nCoV was the provisional name, SARS-CoV-2 is the current official name of the virus.
