I'm the founder and CEO of a software company that is remote-first. The shutdown of schools due to COVID-19 has meant that many of our engineers now have kids bouncing off the walls while they're trying to work. I have school aged kids as well, and their constant presence is lovely, but a bit distracting. As a manger, I totally expect that peoples' productivity will suffer. This is an unprecedented situation in our modern history, and the temporary decrease in productivity should not make or break the success of your employer. Do what you can, and don't drive yourself into the ground in the process. If your manager is an empathetic human being, they will understand the situation.
