- throwanem 7y agoWe're talking about behavior on the homefront, not about the treatment of enemy civilians.
- pinkfoot 7y agoYou interned US citizens on other continents?
- pinkfoot 7y agoI'm sure the Japanese population was also very heroic and civil to each other on the homefront. Do you see the problem here?
- throwanem 7y agoYes, I suppose I do. I'd like to hope that we'd do better this time, considering especially that there is even less basis now, for identifying any segment of the US population as potentially treasonous, than there was then. But that seems like an awfully bold claim to make, in a country that's operating internment camps right now.

- bosie 7y agohow do the concentration camps in most european/russian/US countries factor into this? or do you consider those ethnicities/races as 'enemy civilians'?
- throwanem 7y agoSee https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22664110 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22664110 - pinkfoot's right, I was wrong.
- StandardFuture 7y ago> Its a nice fable As if there are not bad choices and bad actors in all aspects of society at all points in history ...
- pinkfoot 7y agoIndeed, my point exactly. Many weren't as noble (or identify with organisations that weren't as noble) as they would like to believe. That's the fable bit.
