The biggest downside for me is that from time to time (rarely) the compiler really lets you down. Right now I'm debugging the equivalent of #64650[1] but the cause appears to be distant from where the error is reported, triggered by monomorphization. I've seen other compiler behaviors in the context of async code that the maintainers could not explain. That said: The compiler is a marvel, otherwise. Never have I had as much help from a compiler. I guess that's because most other languages have much less complex problems to communicate.
