What would be the economic impact of 1 million dead? Twice WW2 in only 6 months? Would the US democracy survive it? I don't think so.

I don't think so.
- 0xffff2 7y ago~3 million people die every year in the US. Even if you assume no overlap (which doesn't seem realistic), I'm having a really hard time seeing how a 33% increase is the death of US democracy (if it's even still alive).
- usaar333 7y agoEconomically - if it all happened immediately, probably less than you think given it's mostly concentrated in an older age group past working age. Second order effects would be huge though and you'd still take all sorts of economic and social hits. I don't see why democracy would die. Spanish flu was far worse.
- jacob019 7y agoWhat exactly is the alternative to democracy? Are we suddenly going to become authoritarian? Are you suggesting that we will devolve into anarchy, branch off into warring clans of hunter-gatherer's, substance farmers, and roving gangs of bandits?
