Did any countries that handled it better do so via a distributed market response?
- roenxi 7y agoI dunno. I googled "south korea test kit production" and found: > On January 16, Chun Jong-yoon, the chief executive and founder of molecular biotech company Seegene, told his team it was time to start focusing on coronavirus. > "Even if nobody is asking us to, we are a molecular diagnosis company. We have to prepare in advance," he remembered thinking at the time. > Seegene is one of four domestic companies providing coronavirus test kits in South Korea. > But the company is also facing international demand from about 30 countries -- including Italy and Germany -- some of which are using Seegene's products on patients, Chun said. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/03/12/asia/coronavirus-south-korea-testing-intl-hnk/index.html https://edition.cnn.com/2020/03/12/asia/coronavirus-south-ko... These people exist. Let them do their thing. I'm sure the government can help; but there is a role for them. But the CDC didn't fill its role and that is a serious risk that is inherent centralised systems.
