That part stuck out to me as well, especially since the lack of https was their only reason. You can stick Cloudfront in front of it and get HTTPS very easily

That part stuck out to me as well, especially since the lack of https was their only reason.
You can stick Cloudfront in front of it and get HTTPS very easily (with the added benefit of being on edge servers).
Personally I have found S3+Cloudfront to be perfect for static content for that reason.
