It depends on what they are making. If they are still manufacturing cars, yeah, thats bullshit. If they are keeping a light staff to manufacture replacement parts so that their current fleet can be prepared, that's more understandable.
- thrill 7y agoIF they are making life saving medical supplies, then it's valid. Preparing for future sales is not an "essential business".
- xkjkls 7y agoCar repairs can end up being pretty essential. Any doctor with a Tesla might need to get to work.
- ygra 7y agoI wasn't aware of a car shortage in the US.
- xkjkls 7y agoIf this wasn't an automobile that was a high priced toy, this would be pretty obvious. Should we stop producing truck parts? The fleet of 18-wheelers across the US is the only thing sustaining us.
- sushid 7y agoIf we're splitting hair like that then practically any company is "pretty essential."
- xkjkls 7y agoHaving some semblance of transportation is essential for alot of people in a way things like entertainment events or bar life is not.
- toast0 7y agoI think they meant 'so the current fleet can be repaired'. Which has some degree of criticality; although, my understanding is Tesla repair was already a lengthy waiting process; if you had a critical need for transportation, it would be wise to have a vehicle with a more ready supply of parts than a Tesla.
