- notahacker 7y agoVallance is a medical doctor with quarter of a century in academic medicine and private sector drug research and two years as Chief Scientific Advisor. Chris Whitty, who's identified even more closely with the development of the current strategy, is an epidemiologist.

- sorokod 7y agoApropo apropos of nothing, the point was that an argument from (academic) authority is weakned when the authority occupies a political role.

- 45ure 7y agoI agree. I wouldn't doubt Prof. Chris Whitty's credentials; a voice of reason. Here he is at a Select Committee, a couple of weeks ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfJcwDaZrsA& https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfJcwDaZrsA& If you need to know the role of a Select Committee: https://www.parliament.uk/about/how/committees/select/ https://www.parliament.uk/about/how/committees/select/
