https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/Api/Public/ViewPublication/811059 https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/Api/Public/ViewPublication/... seems to suggest that speed isn't the major cause of accidents; there are a ton of other human related ones, plus other car related ones. IMHO, humans shouldn't drive the cars, but whilst they do, their max possible speed doesn't seem to make a big difference ;)
