Well, if you know so much about preventing the spread of infectious disease, quit whining on HN and do something productive for a change.
DARPA has advanced needs, which is why they develop advanced technology. Most people do not think of needing the things that the military needs, because most people's lives are not as challenging as a soldier's.
- brrrrr1 7y agoI know and i agree - seems like the us government doesnt care about the hard life of us soldiers, since it ignores the struggle of so many veterans. I am ok, Europe we have universal healthcare, and we dont need the “military” to take steps in that regard, nor do we elect idiots like trump in power to tel us fake scientific facts. Therefore i can afford sitting and pointing out how the us is a joke in terms of healthcare and its army is a bully as it can not do more than point and shoot. idiot.
- microcolonel 7y agoWe have universal healthcare here in Canada, and we have basically no ability to care for sufferers of this pandemic. The U.S. has a lot more acute care facilities, a lot more response. These policies are not a panacea, you need strong, accountable institutions for any of these things to be a benefit. Italy's hospitals have been over capacity for more than a week now, we will be soon, and so will the U.S. Also, the U.S. defense establishment and industry is the source of many of the medical advancements you pay taxes for today, you don't live alone in the world. It is extremely childish to lash out, and call everyone a joke or a bully or an idiot, when these advancements are basically stagnant in your society, but people are willing to share them with you. We're all in this together, whether you like it or not.
