The lack of response by the US government is really quite alarming. I fear this virus could hit the US really hart since there are quite a few factors coming together here: labour laws that disincentives staying at home when falling ill, expensive health-care, illegal immigrants scared of visiting hospitals, very little testing, and to top it all off of, a government that looks somewhat underprepared. Looking at the death-toll currently, I think it's pretty safe to assume that there are considerably more people infected than currently diagnosed. In the past, we were able to count on the United States to tackle such a crisis in a consolidated effort, it's really not looking like that atm. I think the next 1-2 weeks will reveal the actual scale of the outbreak when lots of those undiagnosed cases will hit the local hospitals. It's almost a little ironic to see how both the US and Iranian administration are following a similar corona strategy here: blame outside forces, ignore the threat, underreport cases (by not testing) and hope the crisis passes..
