Almost all insurance policies specifically exclude pandemics. This tragedy won't hit insurance companies directly much at all.
- brudgers 7y agoIt won’t hit insurance companies because it’s the type of risk that’s offloaded into the reinsurance market. Extrapolating from retail insurance products to bespoke policies for sophisticated well capitalized businesses is an error. Pontoon boats on Lake Havasu aren’t insured for piracy. Lloyd’s covers container ships for it because that’s what they do.
