The ability to test for this scales linearly with number of people...
- bluGill 7y agoNot when you run out of raw materials to make the tests. I could leave my job and create them, but that would take months to train me (and maybe years if I have to create my own equipment - it takes time to become a certified welder as just one task that doesn't scale quickly)
- Lewton 7y ago.... The raw materials for doing these tests scale linearly with population too. It's just RNA sequencing, it can be done at any university using standard equipment and materials
- bluGill 7y agoRight, until we run out of labs, and/or the labs run out of materials.
- Lewton 7y agoWhat does that have to do with the US's testing capability per capita compared to other countries?
- bluGill 7y agoWe cannot scale linearly per capita.
- ceejayoz 7y agoIf the US can't get enough lab materials to match one day of South Korea's test reagent usage, that should be its own huge scandal.
- bluGill 7y agoWhy is it a scandal? There is only so much made in the world. If South Korea uses it we cannot.
- ceejayoz 7y agoa) There's plenty in the world. These reagents are widely used. b) If it's that scarce, we should've been stockpiling more. c) If it's that scarce, we should've been manufacturing more.
