> spreading like wildfire > stretched to the breaking point If you don't want people to panic, maybe you should avoid this rhetoric?

This is an accurate description of the situation in several areas in Italy.

Are you in Italy by any chance or is it just hearsay?
    • davidw 7y ago
I lived there for a number of years, have in-laws there, and read Italian newspapers on-line. I'm not reporting rumors. Here's a good site for the numbers: https://lab24.ilsole24ore.com/coronavirus/ https://lab24.ilsole24ore.com/coronavirus/ - look at that growth curve :-(

You do know that the increase in cases is directly related to the number of tests conducted, right?
        • macintux 7y ago
Which makes you wonder what the numbers in the U.S. would look like if we actually had any testing.

Is it really hearsay if the entire country is on quarantine? I’d say that’s pretty damn drastic.

I think it's spreading faster than a typical wildfire, actually.
  • kps 7y ago
Yes, wildfires are O(n²) at worst.
  • hef19898 7y ago
It also had time since January to do so as there was no testing done. Words do matter.
