From Arthur:
design goal: speed
write fast, run fast, modify fast.
minimize product of vocabulary and program size.

comprehensive programming environments
(programming, files, comms, procs, ...)
are depressingly complex.
commonlisp, c/lib/syscalls, java, winapi
are all in the 1000's of entry points.
many with multiple complex parameters.
with k we try to do more with less
in order to write correct programs faster.

yes.
we also try to fit our algorithms onto licence plates.

- kstenerud 7y agoThe readme examples remind me of Perl code. Example: print<>!~($/=$")+2*map 1..$s{$_%$'}++,<>

- gerikson 7y agoThis one comment managed to insult both K and Perl coders...
- Ma8ee 7y agoI don't think Perl coders need any help with that.
- wruza 7y agoFor non-perl guys: It is a cryptic example, because it uses ‘system’ variables in a non-obvious way, not because of syntax. I can read it syntactically just fine, but have to look up for names to understand what it does. A fully uncodegolfed variant would require the same effort here.
- ricardobeat 7y agoGolfing is not seen so negatively for Perl. "Embrace the language" they say.
- _ZeD_ 7y agothis reminds me of http://catb.org/jargon/html/T/TECO.html http://catb.org/jargon/html/T/TECO.html
- chrispsn 7y agoWhat does this do?
- lonelappde 7y agoDon't use indentation for blockquotes. HN rendered indented lines as code, which is unreadable on mobile.
