Isn't the speed and usefulness of Q&A a function of the community itself and not IRC though? For example, the Matrix devs hang out on many matrix channels and are fast to reply to any questions. Experts over at the hackintosh discord are also very fast to reply and extremely helpful to help troubleshoot issues.
- johannes1234321 7y agoThe point with IRC is that for some time it was the place where everybody was ... at least till the EFnet/ircnet split and introduction of freenode and all the other networks.
- TekMol 7y agoYou give two examples of specialized communities. But only on IRC you can instantly talk about any technology that you are interested in and meet someone with knowledge.
