I‘m about the same age as the author, and I realized (again) yesterday how little music written since about 2000 means to me. I never listen to radio music because I detest it. I don‘t understand how people get to know other kinds of music without wading through tons of really bad music. I do have a fairly good understanding of the music from the 50s to 90s though, and partly to classical music. But the music from the 00s and 10s make me feel old.
