AsiaBSDCon 2020 Cancelled
- 1-6 7y agoJust when BSD should have gained more momentum. #systemdsux #jailsWereAroundBeforeContainers #ZFS
- 1-6 7y agoThe program for this convention was very slim pickings anyway... Netflix is the only big company presenting (of course). I'm saddened how cloud providers have given no love to BSD.
- kkaranth 7y agoWhat advantages does BSD have over Linux?
- 1-6 7y agoFor me, I like understanding what's going on under the hood. OS's like FreeBSD are very straightforward. When I use even a carrier-grade Linux distro, I'm more detached to the internals and entrusting my setup more to some other party. You lose compatibility for more stability.
- SubjectToChange 7y ago> #systemdsux Why? I have managed around 100 linux servers for the last two years and systemd has always been extremely helpful and never caused an issue. At this point there is no real competitive alternative in terms of features or cohesiveness.
- elpakal 7y agoYikes. Curious what’s gonna happen for WWDC.
- ebg13 7y agoSo when something like this happens, what do people do about potentially $1000 in unrefundable airfare?
- arn 7y agodepending on your airline, they may offer credit or let you change your flight without any fees. https://www.delta.com/us/en/advisories/other-alerts/coronavirus-situation https://www.delta.com/us/en/advisories/other-alerts/coronavi...
- roel_v 7y agoWebsite in GP says that registration fees are only 50% refundable, too.
- omegaworks 7y agoSometimes your credit card company will automatically issue you a travelers insurance reimbursement.
- bruce_one 7y agoIt would be an acceptable reason for cancellation coverage with a lot of travel insurance (ymmv, but I know of less-logical reasons for cancellation that were covered).
- akasian 7y agoKinda suprised NABShow in Vegas hasn't been cancelled yet...I feel like any day now.
- fluxsauce 7y agoI have direct connections who will be incredibly negatively impacted by the financial repercussions of all the lost business opportunities if NAB weren't to happen. Broadcast Media is contracting at best, and this won't help. I'm not saying it won't be the right call, but it will have rippling effects beyond mere inconvenience.
- jacquesm 7y agoAs opposed to the rippling effects beyond mere inconvenience if they let it go through.
