- alexbanks 7y agoHomerolled frameworks with worse/no documentation.
- austincheney 7y agoIn my experience code written with frameworks is equally lacking in documentation. Writing to the DOM and maintaining state are tiny beginner things that don’t require much documentation since the DOM and web storage are standards and already well documented. It’s the actual code the developers are actually writing that needs, and lacks, documentation. When I mentioned in my comment above that writing is one of only two things separating a novice from an expert I wasn’t being clever.
- alexbanks 7y agoI couldn't possibly disagree more with a person's post, but I'm glad you're finding success with what you're doing.
- ng12 7y agoReinventing wheels, probably.
- ferzul 7y agonot op, but i'm presently working on a project with a simple old school “no clientside deps, complex logic goes on the server” requirement, and i don't actually feel like i'm doing anything much different than when i work on react. the project is pretty simple, and modern js is significantly improved, so the notion that you have to reinvent the wheel seems false.
- ng12 7y agoIf you don't find yourself reinventing wheels then you made the right call -- your project didn't need a framework to begin with.
- yellowapple 7y agoAnd even if you do find yourself reinventing wheels... well, if nobody reinvented wheels we'd be driving cars with wooden wagon wheels instead of pneumatic tires ;)
- svrtknst 7y agoAnd it's not like React, Angular, etc. development isn't "reinventing wheels", too. Different sets of wheels, maybe, but there's still a lot of repetition and doing the same thing over again.
