Maybe the reductionists are getting closer and closer to reality, the more powerful the metaphors become?

Assuming technology progresses toward gaining more knowledge of the universe, then this would be the case. However that doesn't mean they are actually accurate metaphors, merely that they are slightly better than ones before them. 1% is a hundred times more than 0.01%, but it's still just 1%.
