For what it's worth, I agree with you completely.[1] What I was trying to say is that it's probably difficult to convey these things in an application form, barring any obvious red flags. I assume the YC gang are pretty good at spotting such negative traits in person though. [1] I tend to be principled to a fault, talking potential customers out of projects they don't actually need and turning down any deals that smell bad. Apart from the fact that I couldn't sleep at night if I didn't, I also think it's a rational strategy.
