Do they? I didn't realize that.
Edit: This article suggests that ballots get mailed but that there are still physical polling places https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/sluggish-mail-balloting-could-mean-packed-polling-places-on-election-day/ar-BB10xvRk https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/sluggish-mail-ballot...
- itsangaris 7y agoBallots are sent to registered voters in the mail. They can either be mailed back or dropped off in voting boxes that are scattered around. Compared to other states, it’s relatively uncommon to see large groups congregating on Election Day.
- tyre 7y agoYes. Everyone gets a ballot. You don’t have to request one. We also send everyone a book with the candidates, explanations of the ballot propositions, and some other info. I got my ballot weeks ago.
- windthrown 7y agoAre you sure about that? The Secretary of State website makes it seem like they need to be requested: "Any registered voter may vote using a vote-by-mail ballot instead of going to the polls on Election Day. To request a vote-by-mail ballot for a single election or to request a vote-by-mail ballot for all elections (permanent vote-by-mail voting), follow the simple process described below." https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voter-registration/vote-mail/ https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voter-registration/vote-mai...
- dmckeon 7y agoRoll-out of newer voting procedures (all vote-by-mail, fewer locations to return ballots) varies, depending on what county a voter is registered in: https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voters-choice-act/ https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voters-choice-act/
- windthrown 7y agoAh, that makes sense now. I am in San Diego County which did not adopt the new procedures.
