Looks like the Vatican reputation management campaigns are alive and well, I suppose given those deep pockets backed by taxless ownership of good chunks of Europe it would be naive to expect them to go away. But for the record - Galileo could be arguing that the earth revolves around his ass and the Church would still be damnable for persecuting him or anyone else and "critics" is not the word one uses for anyone wielding arrest and execution powers to enforce a monopoly on science and thought in general.
