The more I hear about Crash Bandicoot, the more I wish someone like Fabien Sanglard wrote a book about it. It seems like there are so many cool solutions implemented in it. It was also made at what seems like such a pivotal time for games, forcing so many innovations, such as those mentioned in the video.
Like the custom LISP-like scripting language called GOOL[0] which in its evolved form is still in use in some games for at Naughty Dog even today.
