Couple of things, Walmart recently announced that they will not be using AWS for anything they do online. Its like giving keys to the kingdom. same goes for selling via Amazon.
Walmart+ can be successful, because as per a recent report, they have around 150 million people visits their super centers every week (or month) and if they bundle it properly with Vudu and grocery, it might challenge it. The problem would be to compete with the scale of logistics Amazon has developed already..
While i agree with you that it will make our lives easier if we just used one portal, reality is far from it..
- sigmaprimus 7y agoI am one of the 150 million visitors that frequent Walmart on atleast a monthly schedule, in fact I can't remember the last time I went to town without making a purchase there. Maybe that is part of the reason I am not interested in making online purchases through a Walmart website, unless they can offer a better price or an even larger selection of items online that are not available instore, what is the point? I also have what is possibly an unfounded fear but a fear none the less, that ordering groceries online would result in receiving wilted produce and closer to be expired products. Chances are the online groceries at this point in time are fresher than those available in store. But as with all good things this will eventually come to an end, once a critical mass of customers is achieved and the pressures on store management to turn greater profits and reduce spoilage sets in.
