My Mazda CX-9 has this sort of check (to require at least one hand on the wheel) but it’s incredibly annoying due to false positives. Every once in a while I am only touching the wheel lightly and it freaks out with alarms. It’s just my personal experience but I think it is more dangerous to have a bunch of erroneous, distracting alarms than it is to try to police everything.
