It stands enough weight for above average weight of people in the 70s. It was designed with that in mind probably. Times/people changed though.

- rtkwe 7y agoAnother big factor is how they're stored. If left outside in the sun they'll become pretty brittle. Most people probably experience poorly stored and older examples of these chairs just by sheer probability.
