Source for this? I'm from Europe and I have friends working in 2-3 different countries in Europe, but 32 hour workweek is not standard anywhere.
Never even heard of such a thing being standard in Europe.
- zhdc1 7y agoGermany and Switzerland, at least. I can't speak for other countries, but at least where I'm at, most folks are on an 80% contract (four days a week) and enjoying it.
- jacquesm 7y agoIt depends on the country. Sweden, Denmark, Norway, NL, Germany, Switzerland, France. Others probably less so, depending on how well the economy is and general attitude towards workers rights. Eastern Europe much less so, in some cases (Romania, Bulgaria) conditions are still terrible.
- timwaagh 7y agoLawful workweek in nl is 40 hours I'd wager the others are similar, with perhaps one exception.
- blablabla123 7y agoIn Germany at least in large Corporations it's a standard thing and it's possible to choose when starting there. (At least for "normal" positions) But it also seems that more and more startups are open for it, at least those which are a bit more niche. And of course outside of the IT world in Germany, there's a lot of part-time work going on...
