Synthetic data is a tool in a system of privacy-preserving analytics. I don't think a lot of companies would be comfortable with shipping their sensitive data into a model sitting not on their premises. The model, needs to generate good enough results that would make sense in a training/analysis scenario (doubtful) and preserve the privacy of that data (difficult). People in the Privacy-preserving industry try to find the silver bullet in one technology, but the real solution is a combination of different technologies. Trusted delegation of computation + privacy-preserving techniques together solve this issue, but separately provide marginal value.
