Forgive me if this is off-topic. I am currently in the market for a queen size mattress in a box. The last one that I bought on Amazon was perfect, it cost about $300. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F8NNL8X https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F8NNL8X It is no longer available. Now it seems that you can get a decent one for under $250. Here are some that I found:
Ashley: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0777K9RGX https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0777K9RGX
Vibe: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074NDQ143 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074NDQ143
PrimaSleep: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075T6BNC2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075T6BNC2
Anyone here have any suggestions?
- dang_dumb 7y agoZinus sleep - I have a king hybrid mattress from them and it's fantastic. https://www.zinus.com https://www.zinus.com
- dublinben 7y agoThe Green Tea mattress from Zinus is a popular choice, and well-regarded. It's right at your price point. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q7EPSHI/ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q7EPSHI/
- werber 7y agohttps://www.amazon.com/Zinus-Memory-Green-Mattress-Queen/dp/B00Q7EPSHI https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-Memory-Green-Mattress-Queen/dp/... I've had several friends go out and buy it after a night on mine. I've had it for ~3 years and haven't noticed any degradation. After trying much more expensive (and heavily advertised) ones other people own, I can't really tell the difference.
- Mountain_Skies 7y agoI have the same mattress. Almost never give it a second thought, which is what I really want in a mattress. Some reviews complain of a fishy smell but I didn't encounter it with mine but there are enough reviews with that complain that I wonder if there are multiple manufacturing pipelines, one of which leads to a fishy smelling mattress.
- werber 7y agoit did smell weird when I opened it, but from what I remember they clearly stated, hey, let this inflate and air out
- wycy 7y agoI have the AmazonBasics mattress: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C49ZPQG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C49ZPQG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b... It's my guest room mattress but I do sleep in the guest room occasionally, and when I do I sleep better than my normal mattress. That said, the edge support isn't great. Being close to the edge makes it feel almost like you're at a slight slope. Still, no regrets for $250. Edit: I'm 6ft / 165 lb. It's possible that it would be less supportive for heavier weights.
- giarc 7y agoI agree with the edge support and foam mattresses. A friend of mine asked me about whether he should recommend a foam mattress for his grandparents. I specifically said no because of the edge support. I fear someone with mobility issues might not be able to support themselves if they were to sit on the corner.
- wycy 7y agoFWIW, my main mattress is also foam (Leesa) and seems to have good edge support. But the Leesa was a lot more expensive than the Amazon mattress, and I wanted to spend less since it was a guest room.
- emodendroket 7y agoI bought an Avocado mattress in the strength of Consumer Reports' recommendation and, while it's certainly not the cheapest option, it is very comfortable.
- opportune 7y agoI got the “Edow 10 inch firm foam mattress” and it’s perfect for me. It will probably last a long time too. It’s firm though so not everybody will like it. I would go to a mattress store and try out a firm foam mattress first
