Yep, heat definitely apepars to be the biggest factor in these bulbs dying. I have Hyperikon BR30 bulbs in various locations. About half of the bulbs installed in insulation-contact recessed cans have died, but those in exposed fixtures are fine. Philips bulbs seem to do much better in the ceiling. If only they'd make 3000k bulbs...
