Ask HN: What self hosting services do people recommend?

I've been running a home server and am increasingly trying to migrate all my online services onto a self-hosted framework. Currently I have a media server, ebook server (ubooquity) and OpenVPN as the main services + some very basic home automation (domoticz / hass). My ideal target would be to completely move away from third party services (esp. Google, where I have my main email address). I'm not a techie, but can handle basis linux tasks, so ideally looking for easy deployment and low maintenance. 1/ What services are other HNers self-hosting? 2/ Is there a good road-map for disengaging from big tech? 3/ Uptime has not really been a problem till now but I'm acutely aware I have a single point of failure and thinking of ways to get better reliability - any ideas?
