- kvark 7y agoHeh, I was hoping for the same, but in reality I get sleep issues quite often, subpar battery life, and overall unpolished experience... on AMD with Ubuntu.
- fladrif 7y agoWhich AMD cpu was this? And what version of Ubuntu were you running?
- kvark 7y agoIt's with Ryzen 3500U on Ubuntu 19.10, no fancy configuration.
- zelly 7y agoI'm using Fedora, haven't had any sleep problems. If you're using GNOME or KDE, they are notorious for hijacking ACPI handling. Try "# systemctl suspend" to rule out it being Linux's fault.
- kvark 7y agoWouldn't it be fun if you were basically saying "AMD support on Linux is great, unless you are using GNOME or KDE"? :D
- pengaru 7y agoIs that using the latest mainline kernel?
- NullPrefix 7y ago>motherboard max of 32G RAM Are you sure about that number, because that seems.. rather low. Sandy Bridge era T420 and X220 accepted 16GB. Just double capacity after 9 years isn't that impressive, is it? There are 32GB DDR4 SODIMMS in the market.
- zelly 7y agoYes unfortunately that's it according to the manufacturer. https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_T495/ThinkPad_T495_Spec.PDF https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_T... > Just double capacity after 9 years isn't that impressive, is it? In their defense, there's a limit to what you can fit into and cool in a laptop chassis. The most expensive MPB you can buy now (with Coffee Lake?) can fit a max of 64GB. You can build an AMD (or Intel, if you want to waste money) desktop with >1TB RAM.
- KSS42 7y agoAre you sure you use T495s? T495s -> max 16 GB T495 -> max 32 GB. I use the T495s and it is a great laptop. It is slighter thinner/lighter than the T495.
- zelly 7y agoYes, you're right, it's a T495, not the s.
