This seems like doubling down on the part of taking VC funding that most recipients are the most concerned with; losing control and direction.
The post frames it as "having trouble guiding the company through growth" which is a real thing, but I have to ask, who's setting the goals in this model? It really seems like it could ultimately lead to more "successful" startups of the type a lot of us really don't want to see.
