People tend to forget that this is alpha software - bugs happen. And re: centralization, decentralizing something too fast is the dumbest thing to do. Easier said than done, but it's something they've been working on for a while from what I've read. Last time this happened with Ethereum for example, they split the chain in Ethereum Classic and the "New" Ethereum. Also not an ideal scenario. At least they are transparent/actively working on fixing this issue.
