I had a similar problem. I have a very efficient garbage collector; if my mind can't link the data to some concrete real-world purpose, then it will be archived and eventually overwritten. I think this mindset is good for getting things done efficiently though. Unfortunately, getting things done efficiently has been going out of fashion lately.
