The median American household currently holds just $11,700 in savings. most people in usa would be ruined financially by a serious sickness where each day at the hospital alone could be up to $5000.
- ars 7y agoNo one ever actually pays that. With insurance a deductible is around $4,000. Or they have medicaid. Or they negotiate with the hospital. Or they just don't pay. Those news stories about people being ruined, are in the news exactly BECAUSE they are unusual.
