I used to think that until I heard of people with far less experience than me getting paid $400k total comp at these places because they can ace the interview and get competing options. That's worth putting 6 months of work in.
- JMTQp8lwXL 7y agoYeah, once you're in, it's cushy, for sure. But that's not the full story. You're likely going to have to move to the bay area to make $400k kind of money. Are you willing to forego living near family, friends? Plenty of people do, but time gets more valuable when you have less of it left.
- jophde 7y agoI already live in the Bay Area and have for 8 years. Startups pay half of what big tech pays once you factor in the stock that is liquid.
