- opencl 7y agoThere aren't any major desktop or server OSes that use microkernels but they're common in the embedded space. QNX, Minix, FreeRTOS, etc.
- AceJohnny2 7y agogosh I miss QNX... (been working with a custom in-house RTOS for the past few years...) (but I do not miss QNX's build system. Recursive makefiles!?)
- lwb 7y agoDo people actually use Minix in embedded systems in 2020? I only know the name from Linus’ legendary rants.
- moondev 7y agoPerhaps you meant desktop operating systems, but as far as hypervisors go https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware_ESXi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware_ESXi > The vmkernel is a microkernel[13] with three interfaces: hardware, guest systems, and the service console (Console OS).
